Agriculture and photovoltaics, two seemingly unrelated industries, have sparked innovative "sparks" through technological advancements. Recently, this was demonstrated at a photovoltaic company in Haikou National High-Tech Zone, where photovoltaic technology is combined with modern agriculture to develop the innovative "PV power line" product series. Since the beginning of this year, Haikou National High-Tech Zone has been accelerating industrial-city integration, creating a forefront for technological innovation, and injecting innovative momentum into industrial transformation and upgrading .

Concerting effort for innovative progresses

At the demonstration site of Yixian Photovoltaic in Haikou Medicine Valley Industrial Park, two giant cement pillars support a 200-meter-long "PV power line" suspended in the air. Connected devices allow PV panels, water pipes, and irrigation nozzles to work in tandem, creating a misty rain spray when activated.

The company, established in the high-tech zone last year, focuses on harmonizing photovoltaic power generation with farmland cultivation. After obtaining national invention patent authorization last year, the "PV power line" completed its demonstration project earlier this year, marking a new phase of real-scenario application. Company CEO Chen Mingfa reported that more than ten domestic and foreign business groups have visited, with five companies expressing interest in cooperation.

"The 'PV power line' can be suspended over farmland, forests, or rivers like overhead power lines. Its unique design not only avoids blocking natural light but also saves valuable land resources, providing ample space for below-field farming," Chen explained. Compared to traditional photovoltaic panels, the "PV power line" boasts higher efficiency, stronger wind resistance, and less land occupation. The company plans to introduce various agri-photovoltaic complementary industry models, such as "PV + edible fungi," "PV + vegetables," and "PV + Chinese medicinal material seedling cultivation," to create more profitable opportunities for farmers. This is but one example of the progresses in the innovative development in Haikou High Tech Zone these years.

In January, Hainan Susheng Biotechnology Co., Ltd. developed the "polyetheretherketone interfacial screw" and "customized surgical guide plate," which were approved as Class III and Class II medical devices by Hainan Provincial Drug Administration, marking another milestone in the company's advancement of regenerative sports medicine innovation.

"The company now has eight Class III and six Class II medical devices approved for marketing," explained the president of the company. It aims to develop more advanced medical devices for sports injury treatment, reducing patient costs while driving innovation in the park's pharmaceutical and medical device industry.

Empowering Innovation Ecosystem

Creating a nurturing innovation ecosystem requires the "sunshine and rain" of support. In recent years, Haikou National High-Tech Zone has optimized its business environment to empower industries toward "new" directions, fostering a vibrant innovation ecosystem.

As the city's first national-level science and technology enterprise incubator, the high-tech zone's entrepreneurship incubation center has cultivated "golden seeds" of innovation, providing full-cycle technical and financial support to incubated enterprises. These companies have accumulated over 500 patents and research papers, with more than 300 patents pending.

To nurture new quality productive force, financial resource is essential. At a recent financing matchmaking event for Hainan's specialized and innovative SMEs, second-batch exclusive financial products were launched, with banks like China Merchants Bank and Pudong Development Bank promoting differentiated policies and products for startups, growth-stage, and mature enterprises, offering targeted financial support to SMEs from various industrial parks .

How to shape development advantages with first-class business environment for technological innovation? The high-tech zone is accelerating the construction of a "10+1" business environment system and implementing nine major industrial development actions, providing full lifecycle services from "entry" to "exit" for enterprises, creating an interactive ecosystem of "industry and business" mutual promotion .

A spokesperson for the high-tech zone stated that future plans include continuous optimization of the "enterprise secretary" system to provide full lifecycle services from incubation to growth, accelerating the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation, and empowering the transformation and upgrading of leading industries with "quality acceleration."
