On October 25th, Haikou Customs released the "third-quarter report" on Haikou's foreign trade: In the first three quarters of this year, the total value of the city's goods trade imports and exports was 61.88 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.4%, accounting for 30% of the total value of Hainan's foreign trade imports and exports during the same period.
It is worth noting that Haikou's imports in the first three quarters amounted to 36.47 billion yuan, with exports at 25.41 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.4%. From the perspective of trading entities, Haikou's private enterprises hold the position of the largest foreign trade entity in the city, maintaining a leading trend of rapid growth.
According to statistics, in the first three quarters, Haikou's private enterprises' imports and exports reached 38.48 billion yuan, a growth of 22.3%, accounting for 62.2%. During the same period, state-owned enterprises' imports and exports were 16.18 billion yuan, a growth of 6.8%, accounting for 26.1%; foreign-invested enterprises' imports and exports were 6.76 billion yuan, accounting for 10.9%.
From the perspective of trading partners, ASEAN remains Haikou's largest trading partner. In the first three quarters, Haikou's imports and exports to ASEAN were 12.26 billion yuan, a growth of 100.5%, accounting for 19.8%; imports and exports to Australia were 3.96 billion yuan, a growth of 18.3%; imports and exports to the UK were 2.1 billion yuan, a growth of 26.4%.
At the same time, Haikou's foreign trade companies are actively expanding into international markets and doing business with more countries. In the first three quarters, Haikou's imports and exports to countries participating in the "Belt and Road" initiative were 31.07 billion yuan, a growth of 31%, accounting for 50.2%; imports and exports to other RCEP members were 19.45 billion yuan, a growth of 43.4%, accounting for 31.4%.
In the first three quarters of this year, the import volume of coal, metal ores, and concentrates continued to expand. The city imported 10.04 million tons of coal, an increase of 11.3%; imported 4.92 million tons of metal ores and concentrates, an increase of 79.8%. In addition, the import of mechanical and electrical products was 4.26 billion yuan, a growth of 7.7%; the import of basic organic chemical products was 780 million yuan, a growth of 431.7%.
One official from the Haikou Customs introduced that mechanical and electrical products are the main export commodities, becoming a highlight of the city's foreign trade. In the first three quarters, Haikou exported mechanical and electrical products worth 11.52 billion yuan, accounting for 45.3% of Hainan's total export value during the same period. Among them, the export of household electrical appliances was 530 million yuan, a growth of 125.8%; the export of general mechanical equipment was 450 million yuan, a growth of 41.4%. During the same period, the export of basic organic chemical products was 2.14 billion yuan, accounting for 8.4%. In addition, the export of agricultural products was 1.7 billion yuan, a growth of 59.9%; the export of pharmaceuticals was 710 million yuan, a growth of 44.4%.
