Over 800 Overseas Chinese from 104 countries and regions descended on Hainan's capital of Haikou on November 6, 2025, to explore new opportunities brought about by the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) at the China Overseas Chinese Business Investment (Hainan) Conference, organized by the China Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs and the People's Government of Hainan Province.
Significant strides have been made in overseas Chinese investment since the previous meeting in Hangzhou last July, with 107 strategically positioned projects totaling over CNY 115 billion in investment coming to fruition.
At this year's conference, 38 projects, totaling around CNY 36 billion in investment, were signed, encompassing various sectors, such as modern services, headquarters economy, cruise ship home ports, industrial parks, low-carbon energy, vocational education, biotechnology, eco-agriculture, marine economy, and wellness tourism.
Hainan's provincial government signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Thai conglomerate Charoen Pokphand and published ten exemplary cases of high-quality development involving the overseas Chinese community.
At the end of the conference, a flag handover ceremony was held, during which the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region was revealed as the host of next year's event.
